Programme Leaders

John Yates
Dr John Yates had substantial teaching and senior leadership experience in schools before becoming Director of one of the leading national Centres for Educational Leadership and Management.  In this capacity he worked nationally and internationally with large numbers of Heads, Deputies and Senior Leadership Teams.  Since 1993, he has been running his own highly successful organisation.

Although all of his current work is in education and with school leaders nationwide, John has previously worked with a wide range of other public and voluntary sector organisations and a number of leading companies. His company client list includes Nikon; Saatchi and Saatchi; UPS and Walt Disney. He has worked in Africa, Europe and the USA.

John was a lead trainer on the NAHT national leadership and management development programme and is highly valued for his work on strategic planning, getting the best out of people and school self-assessment. In addition, his Cluster Programmes for Heads and Deputies, has been exceptionally well received across the UK. In the past few years he has worked with clusters of schools (heads with deputies/assistant heads) in Bexley (22 schools), Brent (28 schools), Chelmsford (26 schools), Havering (24 schools), Hounslow (23 schools), Kingston (18 schools), North West Kent (25 schools),  Poole (19 schools), Rotherham (32 schools), Runnymede (22 schools), Stoke (28 schools), Surrey Heath (24 schools), Tamworth (23 schools), Tower Hamlets (28 schools), West Sussex (21 schools), Wirral (30 schools), and Woking (24 schools). Throughout all of his work the underlying emphasis is on the need for school leadership to take the initiative and to take greater control.

John has a particular passion for helping school leaders and leadership teams to maximise their own potential and that of their school. John continually develops his programmes to ensure he can meet and exceed the ever-changing needs of school leaders.
